The Howling -- Wolfpack Weekly Update (July 13, 2025)

July 13 2025 -- HOWLS

More exciting racing over the past few weeks.

Howl out to Mike Vrabel who competed at Boulder Sunrise Olympic Tri on Jun 29, then, two weeks later at Boulder Peak Tri (The name "Peak" comes from the miserable climb up Olde Stage Rd)

Also, at Boulder Sunrise Olympic Tri, Howls out to Adam "The Giraffe" Smith who placed 5th M40-44 and Mary "The Mtn Goat" Hoftiezer got her 17th Top 5 Podium this year finishing 2nd F60-64.

In Missouri, at the St Louis Sprint Tri, for the second year in a row, Howl out to Thomas "The Swede" Andreasson who placed 2nd M55-59!

Also at Boulder Peak Triathlon Chris and I both placed 2nd in F55-59 and M55-59, respectively. Short story. For Chris, with a mile left, she saw her main competitor who was winning her age group was only 30 seconds ahead as Chris had been eating into her lead since she got out of the water 4 minutes behind. Realizing a win was in grasp, she went to kick it in. However, as she was on a Trail, as she she sped up, her kick was over a stone which caused her to lose her balance and went for a tumble. A guy stopped to help her up, but she shoed him away telling him to "Go! Go! We only got a mile left!. She jumped up to finish the now hopeless chase, passing the guy who shortly before offered to help. As she ran by him with a blood soaked and dripping arm, he yelled, "You're one tough chick!" :)

Finally, and, I should post these as the back and forths in the comments section of Training Peaks and text exchanges are pretty funny or crazy...

So, from Taylor -- "I ran into a man chasing people with a machete and that is why this run ended early!"

Get Ready to Howl for this weekend's racers:

Andy "The Hammer" Solomon will be back at it to race the New Jersey State Olympic Tri. Lightning fast bike course!

Mary "The Mtn Goat" Hoftiezer will be taking on the Tri Boulder Beast (70.3) Course and Chris and I will be racing the Tri Boulder Sprint Tri.
