The Howling -- Wolfpack Weekly Update (August 30, 2026)

HOWLS

All inspired by L-Ro's performance at the Cupcake 5K in Cranford, NJ last week, we had some great results this week!

Howl out to RJ "The BoogeyMan" Boergers who had a fantastic race at the SOS (Survival of the Swangunks) Triathlon in New York! RJ has been trying to get under 6 hours in this crazy race -- 30 Mile Bike/4.5 Mile Run/1.1 Mile Swim/5.5 Mile Run/0.5 Mile Swim/8 Mile Run/0.5 Mile Swim/0.7 Mile Run -- and absolutely crushed crossing the finish line in 5:24 and 6th in M50-54!!! So happy for him!!!!

Mary "The Mountain Goat" Hoftiezer who further added to her hardware collection by placing 2nd in F60-64.

Kevin "Big Black Bear" Bevillard which at thte race, was the first time I met him. In the swim start corral, we randomly found that we were standing right next to each other -- "Hey John". As it was a rolling start, Kevin ended up starting about 30 seconds or so ahead of me and given that he swam in College, was surprised I passed him shortly into the bike ride. As Kev is 6'8" and rides a road bike, he was easy to pick out. Was bummed to see him that soon and was concerned something wasn't going right. But, apparently, he got it together, as I next saw him on the run only about 1/2 mile behind me at the first of three turnarounds in the 6.2 mile run. He put down a 26.3 mile bike ride at 23 mph and cut my lead. Then, at each turnaround, he got closer and closer; then passed me with a half mile ago to finish about 20 seconds ahead of me and 6th in the ultra-competitive M30-34 age group. Yes, we discussed it was time to get a Time Trial bike! :) NICE WORK KEV!

Chris raced the Sprint, placing 1st in F55-59 and 8th Overall Female.

I placed 2nd M55-59.
