The Howling: Week of Mon, Mar 18 to Sun, Mar 31

HOWLS

Before I get started, Howl out to Nat "Legolas" Pitts!  So Nat was a member of the 42-Way Night Vertical World Record -- Max Pyro. Go online and check it out! Unbelievable!

Hold your breath watching this one!!!!  I always think it is funny that she does this, but gets nervous riding her tri-bike on the roads... :)

WOW!

I often don't comment on training, but Josh "Colossus" Hoeft's completion of his pre-ultra distance 140.6 Mile Ride.  Notably, the ride averaged 22.5 mph and took him a little over 6 hours to do.  What's so cool about this workout isn't that he "did it" as you know I'm not a big "Yay, I did whatever event" guy, it is all the effort that went into being ready to nail this workout.  Then, the next day, knocked out a 14 miler at like 7:15 or some crazy fast number like that.  Looking forward to seeing Texas play out in 3 weeks (well, after this last really miserable, but fun, week of training... :) )

Also, yelps out to Taylor, Luke, Conner, Eli, and Jack who all came out to support him on the ride as he did multiple loops where he'd hook up with folks at the starting point.  This is great and similar to efforts out East where Pack Members have rallied around folks on that long, long ride.  Josh repeatedly told me that he never got pulled along, but my point to him is that, on race day, those same folks and all the past and present Pack Members are watching and cheering for folks every weekend that folks are racing so, although you feel alone, you know folks are watching!

Also, Howl out to Colossus for taking 3rd Male Cat 4 at the first Karen Hornbostel Memorial Time Trial (KHMTT) on Wednesday.  KHMTT is a 7-week series where your performances add up to a final placement.  I placed 1st M55-59 Cat 4 and then raced Retro (Road Bike) Cat 4/5 where I took 3rd.  Also, Sunday, then took a humbling beatdown when I decided to race in a local Crit in Male Cat 4/5, the next oldest guy was 36...  Needless to say, it didn't go well... :)

VOLUME PODIUM

Howl out to this week's Volume Podium!

Coincidentally, both Taylor and RJ had the week off and, interestingly enough, both went to the warm weather in Arizona for vacation and amassed a ton of volume!  Nice to see the jump in fitness!

1) Colossus - 14:03 (IronMan Texas)

 2) Yitzy Sontag - 12:36 (IronMan Texas)

3) Adam "Kaiju" Smith - 11:50 (Just ramping up!)
