The Howling: Weeks of Mon, Oct 7 to Sun, Oct 20

HOWLS

As we dip deeper into fall, we've seen some more exciting racing!

Howl out to Matt "Jiffy" Lubiak who went to race the 35,000 participants strong Army 10 Miler in Washington DC where he ran a smokin! 6:35 pace to cross the line in 1:05:46 which put him 11th M50-54.  This is truly an impressive performance as this race was done as, essentially, a training run en route to the NYC Marathon in a couple weeks.  I am ever amazed at how Jiffy has continued to become a faster runner while markedly improving his swimming and biking capability.  2025 will be exciting, but first, he has to crush NYC in a couple of weeks!

At IronMan 70.3 North Carolina, Howl out to Trevor "Otto Pilot" Schaefer who came in with a 70.3 PR of just over 6 hours.  Going into the race, Trev was dealing with a pulled calf muscle and wasn't sure he would make it through the run at all.  We discussed that he just needs to go out and go deep on the swim and bike and just work to jog from aid station to aid station.  I reminded him that, M55-59, a lot of folks are dealing with age-related injuries, so the notion of Relentless Forward Motion becomes even more key to having a good day.  I was thrilled to see him hold together a 2:25 half-marathon despite the challenges and that result placed him in the top 50% of his age group.

Also, at IronMan 70.3 North Carolina, Howl out to Andy "The Hammer" Solomon who came away with a PR of  4:48:07!   We knew the swim and bike (which he awesomely just limboed under 2:30) would be what they'd be, but the highlight of the race was his 7:48 pace half-marathon.  The run has always been Andy's limiter, so seeing him have a breakthrough like that was spectacular.

Finally, Howl out to Lisa "She-Wolf" Rosynsky who was supposed to be in complete off-season mode, decided to partner up with her husband Terry to race in the 6-hour Relay (each hour, a member of your team runs a 5K) called Badgerpalooza in New Jersey where they took 1st place in their category!  NICE!

NEW PACK MEMBERS

We have a new pack member in Colorado, Riley Coleman who will be joining us for the 2025 season, so please take a moment to welcome him.

GET READY TO HOWL

We have some exciting racing coming up as Tara "Yes I Can" Corduan will be racing the Halloween Half-Marathon in NJ and Jimmy "Skeletor" Dion will be racing at the IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN KONA!  As you recall, Jimmy qualified at IronMan Waco in 2022 where he won M50-54, therefore, this has been in the making for awhile!  I will have more to say about this in the week ahead, but for now, circle your calendar! :)

We continue to get closer to the Century Mark for PRs and Podiums!  Please double-check as I think I missed and/or messed up a few!  (Nat - Thanks, got your 3rd AG at Boulder Peak!)
