HOWLS
Howl out to Mark Regester who brought home 2nd Place M40-44 (13th Overall) at Xterra NJ (500M Swim, 8 Mile Gravel Bike, 2.5 Mile Trail Run). What was most impressive about this race was Mark's 6:39 Pace on his run. Mark has been plagued with Plantar and Achilles issues, so bringing this home tells me he's all good and we can pack on some run mileage! :)
Howl out to Colossus (Josh Hoeft) who brought home a 1:35:07 (7:15 pace) 12th M25-29 / 55th of 1000+ Overall at the Colorado Half-Marathon in Fort Collins! We were shooting for a 7:20, so nice to see him sliding underneath that. But, Josh, you couldn't find 8 seconds??? WTH! :)
Howls to our Superhero Half-Marathoners Chatty Kathy (Tara Corduan) and Skeletor (Jimmy Dion) who had some rough hot, humid conditions in Morristown, NJ. Skeletor raced a 1:35:10 (7:15 Pace) to bring home 4th in AG (30th Overall). Chatty didn't have the day she was capable of as she fell apart with a couple miles to go but still finished 8th F50-54. The Silver lining on the day was a new threshold of 8:45 that she set during this race! It's coming Tara! It's coming!!! :)
One thing all 3 of the half-marathoners learned was that going out faster than we discussed is a bad idea... Kenny Lundgren, my old cycling coach, always reminded me that when I was getting antsy before races was, "You know why you feel great at the beginning of a race? Because everyone does..."
Howls out, for the KHM Time Trial to Mary "Mountain Goat" Hoftiezer who took 2nd F55-59 at the KHM Time Trial in Cherry Creek, CO last Wednesday. Mountain Goat finished 7 seconds back and would have won had a car not stopped at the turn around (apparently someone taking driving lessons ended up on the course in the middle of the TT... What a mess!) So, Mary goes into the final race of the season tied for first in her AG. So, it all is on the line on Wednesday. Chris, the wife, won her F50-54 and looks to be able to win the series on Wednesday and I took 2nd again...
Big month of Training ahead, so let's have some FUN!
